Knob steering gear control module is a plug-and-play, easy-to-use steering gear controller,with knob adjustment, return to center function, serial port designated control three steering gear control modes.


Product Features

1. The on-board mature and stable 8-bit MCU is used to generate high-resolution PWM signals with accurate control;

Instructions for use:

XH2.54mm seat: backup power interface, which can be connected to 2S lithium battery;

2X3P pin row: 2-way servo interface, in which VCC is the positive electrode, GND is the negative electrode, and S is the signal terminal;

TX, RX: UART serial port pin;

SWIM, NRST: Reserve MCU program download;

VCC, GND: Power interface


1. About wiring:

VCC and GND are connected to the power supply,

and the steering gear is plugged into the pin row of 2X3P,

where VCC is the positive pole, GND is the negative pole, and S is the signal terminal


2. Manual mode:

Select the manual mode through the on-board buttons. At this time, the manual light is on and the median light is off. Manual mode includes knob control and serial port control, which is knob control by default. The system will automatically switch between the two control modes, that is, knob control is selected when the potentiometer is detected to rotate, and serial port control is selected when the serial port receives effective control instructions.

2.1 Knob Control

Direct rotation of the potentiometer can control the steering gear to rotate in the range of 0-180°


2.2 Serial Port Control:

The on-board MCU can receive and analyze the steering gear position instructions (baud rate 9600, compatible with 3.3/5V level) sent from the host computer, the external MCU and other devices, so as to control two steering gears respectively,

Where the steering gear position command format is# <ch> P <time>!

Each has the following meanings:

#is the starting symbol, which is indispensable;

<ch> indicates the number of steering gears to be controlled, two in total (range: 00-01 for steering gears M0 and M1, respectively);

P is a fixed symbol in the instruction format, which is indispensable;

<time> represents the width of the PWM signal (range: 0500-2500 corresponds to 0-180°, respectively);

! Is the end symbol of an instruction, indicating the end of an instruction, which is indispensable.

Something like:

Send#00P1500! So that that steering gear M0 can be rotate to the 90° position

Send#00P1000! So that that steering gear M1 can be rotate to the 45° position


Take connecting the host computer LCSC as an example. First, prepare a USB to TTL serial port module (such as CH340, FT232, etc.). The TX, RX and GND of the serial port module are connected to the RX, TX and GND of the control board respectively. Select the correct port number. After successful connection, drag the progress bars 0 and 1 to control the M0 and M1 servo gears respectively, as shown in Figure LCSC-16

3.Return to Middle Mode

Select the back-to-middle mode through the onboard button. At this time, the manual light goes off, the middle light is lit, and the servo gears M0 and M1 will return to the middle position.

Tips:

Because the steering gear is a relatively good device (such as MG995 and MG996 steering gear), the power supply current to the steering gear needs to be sufficient. When the steering gear rotates, if the on-board LED flashes, the steering gear is uncontrolled or the error is obviously too large, it means that the power supply current is not enough and the power supply needs to be replaced
